Videos 11.1 and 11.2

The interactive videos for Chapter 11 displayed some helpful tips. Most of the powerpoint presentations I have seen in the past used slides with too much writing. However, the ones used so far in this class were mostly pictures that focused on main points. The videos suggest that the presenter show on slides what they can't say verbally. They are an addition to the speech, not the speech itself. They are not supposed to distract the audience from the overall message. Presentation media should be simple and be a visual for key ideas only. They also explained how the colors you use on your slides should not be so bright or take the focus off of the pictures being shown. For my next speech, I will consider all of these tips.

I agree with what you said. I think everyone in our class has used presentations in a well manner. Most were just pictures to help support what they were describing in their speech. The videos made a really good point about using the slides sparenly to only say things that you are not able to say in your speech. It is a good idea to keep all of the key points in mind when working on our next speech. A persuasive speech could be one of the easier speeched to use power point for because you can simply use pictures of what you are persuading.

Hi Clarissa!

I also agree with you that powerpoint presentations should be an addition to the speech, rather than having the entire speech posted on the screen for everyone to read along as you present. Powerpoints should emphasize points that you cannot explain verbally and also add some flare to your speech! I actually had a portion of one of my classes from this past spring semester really focus on effective powerpoint presentations and the do's and don'ts during presentations, that a lot of the video focused on. These tips were really helpful because we can take them and apply them to pretty much anything in our future presentations!

Hey Clarissa
Just like the others I agree with your points as well. Powerpoint presentations are very very helpful and effective while giving a speech. It can help the audience have a better undrstanding of what your talking about and since it is a visual aid it can bring a brighter insight to the audience which is really good. I know when I listen to the speeches in class I always hope that the speaker has a slide show especially if I have no idea of what they are talking about. A good note from the videos is to never over load the slides.Just put what you cant include in the speech on in it.
